A PLACE IN THE SUN

Situated near Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, this holiday residence inhabits a site nearby to the Great Otway National Park.

 

A concept born from ocean views and inspired by its natural surroundings, the design embraces simple principles executed precisely. A request from the Client’s brief was the ability to separate sleeping quarters to common areas. By dividing the design into two elements, we were able to offer ocean views to the private areas as well as the common areas whilst maintaining a Northern orientation. This Enables passive solar conditioning and healthy cross ventilation.

 

Utilising locally sourced materials, including rammed earth structure, the building places confidently within the site. Nor domineering or dominated, the design sings harmoniously with the precious surroundings. A place where the occupiers can be at one with the surrounding environment, yet protected from the elements.
